I thought the beginning was very powerful. She explained a lot about how women should be treated and how they should treat themselves. The section on claiming education over receiving it confused me at first. But as I continued reading, claiming your education makes more sense than to receive it. They continue to talk about women in history and how when you hear anything in education, mainly men are talked about. You never hear anything about the blacks or the women in history, and that is terrible. Luckily they started to “demand women’s studies”. I personally haven’t been in a class to learn about the feminist movement so I don’t know too much. But after reading this selection, it makes me wish I took a class on that subject.
